In November 2000, following the death of its founder, the San Felipe Humanitarian Alliance established the Robert P. Del Conte Memorial Fund. In their father’s name, the six children of Robert identify and support projects around the world. They have been a driving force in the creation and support of victims awareness organizations, added their support to families in homeless shelters, provided materials for a refugee child care facility, and built a community shelter in a war-ravaged part of Sri Lanka.

Former Navalady Community Center
On the 2 of October, the Robert P. Del Conte Memorial Fund opened a community center in the small yet diverse coastal village of Navalady, Sri Lanka. The center consisted of one large building (60 by 30 feet) and two accommodation blocks (one for girls/one for boys) each 30 by 15 feet. Surrounded by coconut, palm and Banyan trees this beautiful venue offered both privacy and openness to the population. The goal behind the center was to provide a safe and welcoming environment for families and children affected by the conflict in Sri Lanka. The organization we selected to operate the facility was the Butterfly Peace Garden, a local non-governmental organization led by Father Paul Satkunanayagam.
