Sri Lanka
We have heard from our contact in Batticaloa Sri Lanka, the situation there is very intense and hectic. There are suicides in the Eastern University of Sri Lanka, kidnappings and killing of children. The residents are panicing. The schools have been closed. Life in Batticaloa has come to stand still.
It is so sad, hopefully the fighitng will come to end soon, there was a report on CNN that said almost 400 civilians had been killed in a no-fire zone.
Many are still trying to rebuild their lives after the Tsunami and now the escalation of violence.
We will keep you posted on the situation and any support that we may be able to give. Our goal is to make Navalady, where we have a school, a model village for rehabilitation work after the Tsunami, this can be accomplished only with our amazing contacts on the ground in Sri Lanka.
